1 Purpose of Position
  The Research Associate (RA) will play a pivotal role in data collection, statistical correlation assessments, GIS mapping, and the development of risk maps, contributing directly to the fulfillment of the research objectives.
2 Functions/Duties (Key Responsibilities)
  The key responsibilities selected RA will include:

·         Development of UHI maps Using GIS: Utilize satellite data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to identify and analyze Urban Heat Island (UHI) hotspots within the study area, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of temperature variations.

·         Refinement of UHI Spatial Distribution Maps: Conduct field measurements to refine and validate the spatial distribution maps of UHI hotspots, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data used for analysis.

·         Identification of Vulnerable Populations and Areas: Conduct survey and analyze the collected data to identify areas and vulnerable populations at higher risk of heat-related illnesses, providing insights into the social impacts of urban heat islands.

·         Development of Interactive Maps and Dashboards: Generate interactive maps and dashboards to effectively communicate research findings to stakeholders and the public, enhancing awareness and understanding of UHI impacts.

3 Requirements
  Essential Desired
Qualifications ·                     Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field. ·         Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Environmental Science, Geography, or related fields).

·         Students enrolled in MS Climate Change and Sustainable development and currently in research phase, are also encouraged to apply.

Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities/ Competencies

Skills and Knowledge:

·         Strong proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) for spatial analysis and mapping.

·         Experience in remote sensing for land cover classification and analysis.

·         Good report writing skills

·         Ability to work effectively within a team
