PI: Dr Abeera Ayaz AnsariServing as Assistant Professor at USPCAS-E, Dr Abeera holds BE in Environmental Engineering and MS in Energy Systems Engineering from NUST. She later pursued PhD in Civil Engineering from University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA, with specialization in novel Oxygenic Photogranule (OPG) biotechnology for energy-efficient wastewater treatment and bioenergy production. |
Her research interests include waste-to-energy, climate change and algal technologies for biofuel and wastewater treatment.

2nd PI: Dr Muhammad Yousif –Received the bachelor, master and Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad, Pakistan, Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Xi’an, China, and Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai (SJTU), China in 2012, 2014 and 2019 respectively. |
He is currently an Assistant Professor with U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan. His main research interests include power systems optimization, microgrid, distributed generation, and dispatch algorithms.
Lab Highlights:
AIEL aims to conduct research on integrated energy systems. The lab envisions to:
– Facilitate students/faculty in designing, simulating, developing, and testing hybrid energy prototypes to ensure energy-efficient and economic performance levels to combat growing energy concerns.
– Promote field testing to determine the practicality of designed prototypes.
– Establish collaborations with other SINES laboratories to boost multidisciplinary research.
– Capacity building in the field of integrated energy systems and solutions.
