The BIOMISA Lab is dedicated to advancing biomedical imaging, signa l analysis, and artificial intelligence. Focused on interdisciplinary innovation, the lab leverages state-of-the-art technologies to develop solutions for critical challenges in healthcare and medical diagnostics. BIOMISA is particularly known for its work in areas such as non-invasive diagnostic imaging, machine learning for medical applications, and sustainable pathology practices. With a strong commitment to research excellence and collaboration, the lab partners with international institutions and industry leaders to push the boundaries of biomedical research and contribute to global healthcare advancements.
Dr. Muhammad Usman Akram is currently serving as Tenured Professor and Head of Computer & Software Engineering Department at NUST College of EME. Dr. Usman is the co-founder and director of the Biomedical Image/Signals Analysis Lab and NUST-spinoff, RISETech (Research and Innovation in Sciences, Engineering and Technology) Pvt Ltd. Dr Usman has published more than 300 research articles, successfully supervised 18 PhD and 100+ master scholars. He has filed more than 20 intellectual properties and was granted with 02 international patents and 07 national ones. |
To commercialize the innovations, he has also licensed 11 intellectual property rights to the industry. Dr. Usman received multiple national and international awards including Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in the field of Engineering by the Govt. of Pakistan.
