Green Tech Hub
NUST, in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC & EC) and IGNITE, has launched the Green Tech Hub (GTH) at the SINES Building, H-12, Islamabad. This joint initiative is a groundbreaking effort to foster innovation in climate adaptation, mitigation, agriculture, and sustainability. Rector NUST, Lt Gen (Retd) Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari, welcomed the distinguished guests, including Madam Coordinator MoCC & EC Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam and Secretary MoCC & EC Ms. Aisha Humera, at the launch ceremony.
Dr. Rizwan Riaz (Pro-Rector RIC NUST), Madam Secretary Ms. Aisha Humera, and Mr. Adeel Aijaz Shaikh, CEO of IGNITE, signed the trilateral agreement, marking a new chapter in green entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
Together, advancing the future of green technology in Pakistan!
Lab Overview
The Green Tech Hub (GTH) at National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) is a purpose-built innovation platform launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination (MoCC & EC) and IGNITE – National Technology Fund. Located at the SINES Building H-12, Islamabad, it serves as a nexus for climate- and technology-driven entrepreneurship in Pakistan.
GTH is designed to support early-stage ventures and innovators working at the intersection of green technology, sustainability, agricultural resilience, and climate adaptation/mitigation. Its mission revolves around enabling the ideation, incubation, and scaling of tech-led solutions that address Pakistan’s pressing environmental and climate challenges.
The Hub brings together academia, industry and government to foster an ecosystem where climate-tech startups can thrive. It offers access to mentorship, networks, infrastructure, and funding linkages under the umbrella of NUST’s broader innovation ecosystem. As such, it leverages NUST’s strong research and technology competencies in engineering, GIS/spatial sciences, IoT, and climate science (which align closely with your expertise).
In practical terms, GTH is poised to accelerate initiatives—from sensor-based air-quality monitoring, real-time GIS for vector-borne diseases, to smart-agriculture and renewable systems—leveraging Pakistan’s youth and innovation potential. With your role as technical team-lead at the Ministry of Climate Change Green Tech Hub and your deep domain knowledge in spatial analysis, IoT and environmental monitoring, GTH presents a meaningful platform for collaboration, pilot-deployment and knowledge exchange.
Overall, the Green Tech Hub at NUST marks a strategic leap towards positioning Pakistan in the global green-technology economy by enabling home-grown innovation, facilitating partnerships and translating research into impactful climate-resilient solutions.
