Arçelik, Parent Company of Dawlance, Establishes a Global Research & Development Center at SINES, NUST

Europe’s second-largest manufacturer of home appliances, Arçelik Global, has established a new research and development center at the SINES ,NUST, Islamabad. Arçelik is the 2nd largest manufacturer in Europe, operates in 53 countries with 83 subsidiaries has 30 R&D centers around the World.  The initiative is part of the company’s efforts to promote innovation-driven economic development in Pakistan and train highly qualified engineers to create a globally competitive workforce.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Mr. FATIH KEMAL EBICLIOGLU, President of the Consumer Durables Group at Koç Holding A.Ş., Turkiye Ambassador to Pakistan, HE Mr. Mehmet Paçacı, and other senior officials. The new R&D center will provide training to engineers and create a globally competitive workforce in Pakistan.

The center will be managed by Arçelik and will cover all infrastructural and running costs. The initiative will also help gain deeper insights into the local consumers’ needs and preferences based on the needs of the Asian markets. The partnership between Arçelik, NUST, and Dawlance is expected to foster innovation-driven economic development in Pakistan.

Mr. Fatih Ebiçlioğlu, Arçelik’s President of Consumer Durables, said that the R&D center will enrich industries in the region and foster technological advancements in Pakistan. Mr. Umer Ahsan Khan, CEO of Dawlance, emphasized the importance of the partnership with NUST to enable the professional development of youth and enable them to learn about Arçelik’s global quality standards and best practices.

The partnership between Arçelik, NUST, and Dawlance is a defining moment in fostering innovation-driven economic development in Pakistan and enabling its youth to create a globally competitive workforce. Pro-Rector RIC-NUST, Dr Rizwan Riaz, expressed his gratitude to Arçelik and said the partnership will enable the development and testing of IT solutions for home appliances.

The establishment of this new research and development center is expected to provide a significant boost to Pakistan’s economy and further strengthen its position as a hub for innovation-driven development in the region. With this move, Arçelik aims to make a positive impact on the local community while contributing to the global home appliances industry.
